Effortlessly Change Instruments with One Click in Your Trading Strategies
Effortlessly Change Instruments in Your Trading Strategies with One Click
Introduction
Have you ever spent hours or even days crafting the perfect trading strategy, only to later wonder what would happen if you ran it on a different instrument? Maybe you built your strategy on Nifty but wanted to test it on Bank Nifty, Fin Nifty, or even Sensex. The problem? All your keywords, conditions, and positions are based on Nifty, and manually updating them is a time-consuming, error-prone process.
Well, we have a solution for you!
With our latest update on the Tradetron platform, you can now seamlessly change the instrument of your strategy across all keywords and positions with just one click. No more manual edits, no more missed updates—just a fast, efficient way to adapt your strategy to different instruments.
How the Instrument Change Feature Works
To demonstrate, let’s take an example of a strategy built in the Advanced Strategy Builder of Tradetron:
Suppose you have built a strategy using Bank Nifty Spot as the instrument in your conditions and positions.

Traditionally, if you wanted to shift this to Nifty50, you would have to manually edit every keyword, every position, and even the runtime variables.
With this new update, all you need to do is:
Go to Set Number 1 (or any other set where you want the change).

Click on Change Instrument for Set.
Select the instrument you want to replace (e.g., Bank Nifty).
Choose the new instrument (e.g., Nifty50).
Click Replace.

Instantly, all occurrences of Bank Nifty in your strategy—across all keywords, conditions, and positions—will be updated to Nifty50.

Now, Your Strategy is Converted to Nifty50!
Key Benefits of the One-Click Instrument Change
✅ Saves Time: No need to manually edit multiple conditions, sets, or runtime variables.
✅ Reduces Errors: Eliminates the risk of missing a keyword or making a mistake while manually changing instruments.
✅ Easy Scalability: Test your strategies on different indices or instruments quickly.
Important Points to Keep in Mind
While this feature is highly efficient, there are some caveats to be aware of:
Set-Level Changes: The find-and-replace function works on a set level, so if your strategy has multiple sets, you need to update each set separately.
Works on Runtime Variables: If your strategy includes runtime variables, they will also be updated automatically.
Exchange-Specific Considerations:
If you are changing instruments within the same exchange (e.g., from Nifty to Bank Nifty), everything will work smoothly.
If you switch to an instrument from a different exchange (e.g., from Nifty to Crude Oil Futures), additional steps may be needed:
Crude Oil does not have a spot index like Nifty does, so you will need to manually adjust the instrument selection to the current month’s futures contract.
Please review your conditions, positions, and expiry details after making any changes to confirm their validity for the new instrument.
Kindly note that these features apply only to Instruments and will not modify the expiry or other related parameters.
Final Thoughts
This new Instrument Change feature is a game-changer for traders who want to quickly adapt their strategies to different instruments without tedious manual edits. Next time you want to test your strategy on another instrument, use this one-click update and save yourself valuable time.
