What is Error Execution in Tradetron and How to Fix It?

If you've been using Tradetron for a while, you've probably come across a status called Error Execution. It can feel alarming at first, but once you understand what it means and how to handle it, it's quite straightforward to resolve.

What Does Error Execution Mean?

When your strategy triggers a trade, Tradetron sends that order to your broker. Ideally, this happens instantly and smoothly. But sometimes, Tradetron doesn't receive a proper response back from the broker — the order may have gone through, been rejected, or still be pending somewhere. Because Tradetron can't confirm what actually happened, it moves your strategy into Error Execution status to

prevent duplicate trades or incorrect executions.

In simple terms: Tradetron sent an order, didn't get a clear confirmation, and is now waiting for you to tell it what to do next.

Why Is It Important to Act Quickly?

While your strategy is in Error Execution, the trading engine is paused. This means no new positions will be taken — including exits. So if the market moves, your strategy won't respond until you resolve the error. This makes it especially critical to address promptly, particularly in fast-moving markets where conditions can change within seconds.

Step 1 — Check Your Broker Terminal First

Before doing anything in Tradetron, go to your broker account and check your order book. This is the most important step. You need to know whether the order was actually placed or not, because your next action in Tradetron depends entirely on this.

Step 2 — Click "Manage" and Choose One of Three Options

Once you've checked your broker, go back to Tradetron, click on Manage, and choose the appropriate option:

✅ Completed Manually

Use this when the trade was already executed — either by the broker or manually by you. This option lets you update the execution price so that Tradetron's PnL and position tracking stays in line with your actual broker positions. Essentially, you're telling Tradetron: "This order is already done."

🔄 Try Again

Use this when the order was not placed at all. Tradetron will attempt to resend the same order to your broker. Before clicking this, make sure the original issue (such as a margin shortfall, expired token, or API credential problem) has been resolved — otherwise the order will fail again. Also be careful not to click this if the order was already placed, as it could result in a duplicate position.

❌ Cancel

Use this when you no longer want that particular trade to be placed — for example, if the market has already moved significantly and the trade no longer makes sense. Clicking Cancel does not cancel anything on the broker side; it simply skips that order and allows your strategy to continue. Depending on the strategy state, it may return to Active or Live Entered status. Do note that cancelling an order may create a discrepancy between your Tradetron positions and your actual broker positions, so manage accordingly.

Important: All three options must be used during market hours only. If you attempt to resolve Error Execution after market hours, your strategy may move into Exit Pending status.

Why Does Error Execution Happen?

You can check the Notification Log in Tradetron to see the exact response received from your broker. Common causes include:

  • Invalid or expired API credentials
  • Token not generated or session expired
  • RMS (Risk Management System) rejection from the broker
  • Margin shortfall
  • Broker-side delays or timeouts

If the log shows a clear rejection message, it means the broker received the order but refused it. If the message is unclear or missing, it's best to go directly to your broker's order book to confirm the status.

If you've checked both the Notification Log and your broker terminal but still can't figure out the cause of the error, don't worry — just reach out to us via chat support and we'll help you identify and fix the issue.

Order was not placed

Click Try Again (after fixing the root cause)

Always check your broker first, then act in Tradetron. Never guess — placing a duplicate order or skipping a required one can create position mismatches that are hard to unwind.
